5 Reasons Why You Should Have Deep Tissue Laser Therapy.

Updated: May 21, 2020

What is Deep Tissue Laser Therapy and how can laser therapy treat pain?

I introduced deep tissue laser therapy into my practice 6 months ago. It has been a fantastic investment that has hugely benefited my clients.

If you are suffering with pain, I will explain the 5 reasons why you should try deep tissue laser therapy.

Jody Dennett, Sports Massage Therapist and Laser Therapist.

1. Laser therapy for pain and inflammation.

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy utilises your body’s own healing powers by stimulating cellular activity.

Laser therapy uses a process called photobiomodulation. Photons enter the tissue and interact with the cytochrome c complex within mitochondria.

This interaction triggers a biological cascade of events that leads to an increase in cellular metabolism and a decrease in both pain and inflammation.

Following application, the results are long lasting and the laser will continue to reduce inflammation and encourage healing long after the initial treatment.

I use the Lightforce laser, which is is the preferred brand of professional athletic trainers and is a clinically proven modality.

2. Laser therapy can treat acute and chronic conditions.

Laser therapy is brilliant for reducing swelling and speeds up the healing process by stimulating the cellular process.

As opposed to sports massage, deep tissue laser therapy can be used on acute injuries.

Laser treatment for acute conditions:

An acute injury can include:

  • Sprained ankle

  • Muscle tear

  • Tendon ligament injury

  • Acute back or muscular pain

Laser treatment for chronic conditions:

Laser therapy is also used to combat persistent pain and inflammation. It can treat a range of injuries, including:

  • Post op rehabilitation

  • Arthritis

  • Soft tissue injuries, including acute muscular strains and tears

  • Back and neck pain

  • Disc herniation

  • Spinal steonosis

  • Sciatic pain

  • Piriformis syndrome

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Bursitis

  • Tennis elbow

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Shin splints

  • Ankle sprain

  • Achilles tendinitis

  • Plantar fasciitis

3. Treatments can be combined with sports massage and tailored.

Every person and injury is unique. The LightForce laser has a huge range of treatment options, which allows me to adjust the treatment so it is correct for the injury and person.

The LightForce laser has a range of treatment heads available, including a non contact laser head and a massage ball attachment.

Laser therapy combined with deep tissue massage can be highly effective in treating pain and inflammation. The laser therapy soothes and warms the tissue prior to the massage, thus enabling the massage to have maximum effect.

Depending on the condition being treated your therapy may be administered through either a contact or non-contact hand piece.

The contact hand piece is designed to allow the practitioner to physically manipulate the tissue while administering the treatment, resulting in a laser-massage treatment.

This allows for light to penetrate deeper into tissues than the non-contact hand piece due to it’s ability to displace tissue through a laser-massage technique.

4. laser therapy treatment is quick and painless.

We are all busy and can't always spare the time for an hour massage!

With LightForce lasers treatments are quick, usually 5-10 minutes depending on the size, depth, and acuteness of the condition being treated.

High-power lasers are able to deliver a lot of energy in a small amount of time, so therapeutic dosages are achieved quickly.

For people with packed schedules, patients and clinicians alike, fast and effective treatments are a must.

I offer 30 minute treatments which combine massage and laser for optimal effect. Please click to see my full treatment list.

5. Laser therapy is gentle and feels great.

The massage-ball treatment head is used to deliver what is often referred to as a “laser massage."

The laser therapy is gentle, soothing and warm!

Clients receiving treatments with higher-power lasers also frequently report a rapid decrease in pain. For someone suffering from chronic pain, this effect can be particularly pronounced.

Conclusion:

Deep tissue laser therapy is a safe, painless and a quick procedure. It reduces inflammation quickly and effectively, thus helping to relieve pain. Stop suffering and try this incredible treatment!
